    We are looking for a Theatre Manager for the Raye Freedman Arts Centre at Epsom Girls Grammar School. The person will need to be experienced in personnel and financial management and be able to work in close liaison with EGGS staff, community hire groups and Auckland Council to maximise use of the auditorium and studio complex.  The Theatre Manager will work with clients to secure bookings, plan, estimate, co-ordinate and deliver events.

    Each year we provide our services to a vast range of events around New Zealand, from live events to local theatre productions, conferences to sporting events. Our services involve live concert production, theatre tours, lighting and audio design and execution, LED walls, live broadcast, staging, and conferencing.

    Job Description:

    By joining our small team, you will make a home at AVP as we treat everyone like family. You will get to meet and work alongside many other event companies in our industry and pick up skills along the way. Many of our events are outside of the Taupo area meaning that you get to experience the beautiful countryside New Zealand has to offer! You could be travelling as far South as Invercargill one week and to Auckland the next. No week is ever the same!

    Essential duties:

    • Preparing equipment/vehicles for jobs
    • Set ups and pack downs
    • Transport vehicles to venues
    • Unloading vehicles
    • Test tagging cables and equipment
    • Equipment and workshop maintenance
    • Assist technical for events
    • Ensuring vehicles are clean and presentable
    • Ensuring workshops are clean

    Our expectation of you:

    • Physically fit as it is physically demanding

    • Good communication (written & verbal)

    Advantages to the role:

    • New Zealand Drivers Licence (Class 2 and able to drive manual is a bonus)
    • Comprehensive knowledge in audio, lighting, basic Av, broadcasting, or LED screens
    • Computer skills such as Microsoft and adobe suite.
    • Experience with networking, resolume, vmix, capture, Blackmagic design, experience with Grand MA 2, HOG (3 & 4), Yamaha CL5, Soundcraft Vi6 (This is a huge bonus)
    • Basic first aid certificate, working at heights, EWP etc (will be put through if not already obtained)
    • PAT test training

    Play an essential part in the delivery of Te Ahurei Toi o Tāmaki | Auckland Arts Festival 2023!

    Each year, the Festival has a wide range of crewing requirements across all of our venues from late February to the end of March. We are seeking expressions of interest from experienced theatre and live arts professionals to join our Production Team. Crew needed include everything from site crew to help set up outdoor Festival sites to people with experience in theatre staging, lighting, sound, AV or wardrobe. We are especially on the lookout for:

    The Organisation:

    Marlborough Civic Theatre Trust (MCTT) owns and operates the ASB Theatre Marlborough and operates the Marlborough Events Centre in Blenheim. Along with hosting a diverse range of events such as theatre productions, conferences, functions, workshops, wine tastings, graduations, and more, the Trust also services the AV requirements of major offsite and outdoor events.

    The Role:

    This role actively supports and contributes to the technical delivery of events, activities and systems at any of the MCTT venues and offsite events throughout any phase of the event process. This includes the appropriate selection, installation, operation and removal of audio, lighting, AV, rigging and network equipment based on event and venue requirements. This role also contributes to the ongoing equipment maintenance and compliance program to ensure optimum presentation and efficiency.

    Tasks are undertaken on a rostered basis and the hours of work are influenced by event requirements.

    Skills required:

    The successful applicant should be passionate about the entertainment industry and have:

    • A minimum of 4-5 years’ experience in a similar role
    • Work with the events team with the forward planning for clients’ technical requirements and upcoming events
    • Select, prepare and install technical equipment prior to events to meet client requirements. This includes lighting, audio, AV, rigging and data network equipment
    • Ensure technical solutions are providing and delivering the desired outcomes during events, including managing and operating the production and venue systems
    • Lead any rigging requirements for productions and be able to use the in-house fly system appropriate and safely. Train staff on the correct use of the counter weight system.
    • Prepare event rostering, team itinerary, incident reporting and H&S documentations, when required
    • Adherence to Health and Safety and compliance practices to ensure no damage occurs to venues, assets or people
    • Troubleshoot and/or report needed maintenance, repairs, and improvements to theatre management to ensure that the theatre is maintained in an orderly, clean, and safe condition
    • Assist in general theatre maintenance
    • Working at heights and EWP certification would be an advantage
    • A full drivers licence (Class 2 is an advantage)

    Show Light and Power is a well-known company that has a strong influence and presence in the events Industry. We are part of a group of companies under the umbrella of Coast Group. In that group are, Exhibition Hire Services, Generator Rental Services, Displayworks, The Carpet and Rug Company, Carlton Events, Carlton Party Hire, and Displayways. We have locations throughout the country and the work is varied and expansive.

    We have positions available for people that are motivated, self-managing, team players, punctual, reliable, and must be flexible to varied working hours, weekends and public holidays are a must. Positions are a minimum of 40 hours per week but can go well over those hours.

    The Role:

    • Installing event power and lighting equipment and resources on site

    • Working at different sites for different events

    • Ensuring safety for staff, vendors and clients for the entirety of the event

    • Communicate & liaise with the events team to meet client demands and achieve a successful outcome

    • Deliver quality service, high-level communication and follow on-site leader’s instructions

    • Possess an excellent work ethic and a passion for the events industry

    • Be comfortable working in a team environment

    Key Relationships:

    • Reporting to the General Manager, Production Manager & On-Site Leaders

    • Working with Events Clientele, subcontractors, business partners and the wider business group for Show Light and Power

    Skills, Experience and Personal Characteristics

    Our ideal candidate will have:

    • Events and entertainment industry experiance is preferable but not necessary

    • Full driver’s license

    • A “can-do” attitude and willingness to complete the job at hand

    Core competencies:

    • Experience with scissor lifts, boom lifts & forklifts although training will be provided

    • Strong communication skills and great comprehension

    • Ability to own all parts of your role

    Whirinaki Whare Taonga is a unique art centre in Upper Hutt aimed at engaging, enriching, and connecting people with art, culture, and events.

    We are looking for bright and friendly Technical Operatives to work primarily in our performing arts theatre known as the Gillies Group Theatre. Proficiency and proven experience in theatrical lighting is the key discipline and requirement. Some knowledge of audio systems would be useful but not essential.

    The work is of a casual on-call nature and may suit a semi-retired person, or those looking for 'as and when required' part-time shifts.
