About The Company

Bartons Sound Systems is a well-established 100% New Zealand owned provider of professional Public Address Voice Alarm (PAVA) and Audio-Visual (AV) solutions, supporting a wide range of mission-critical public and commercial infrastructure across New Zealand commercial customers. About The Opportunity

The primary purpose of this role is to take ownership of the installation, commissioning, testing, and ongoing performance of AV and PAVA systems — ensuring they meet high standards of safety, quality, and customer confidence.

About You

The successful candidate will bring a strong foundation in communication systems.

You will have:

  • Hands on experience installing, commissioning, testing, fault finding, and maintaining enterprise communication systems
  • Practical knowledge of Dante based networked audio systems, including device configuration, clocking, and basic troubleshooting
  • Experience working with DSP based audio platforms, including Linux based or embedded DSP hardware used for audio processing, routing, and control
  • A solid understanding of managed IP networks as they relate to AV systems, including switches, VLANs, IP addressing, and basic network diagnostics
  • The ability to interpret system schematics, signal flow diagrams, and as built documentation to support installation and fault resolution
  • Confidence working onsite in operational environments, diagnosing issues methodically and restoring systems to service safely and reliably
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly where system performance, compliance, and reliability are critical
  • The ability to work independently when required, while also collaborating effectively with engineers, project managers and other technicians
