CLOSED – Technical Manager – The Basement

The Technical Manager is responsible for managing, maintaining and overseeing The Basement’s technical and production facilities, maintaining the premises, and being a direct point of contact and information for each show’s technical and production crew.

They are an essential member of The Basement’s team and a key part of our wider community.

Key skills

  • Thorough working and practical knowledge of theatre production and process.
  • Theatre production skills – specifically lighting, sound, stage management and all aspects of theatre design.
  • A responsible and self-motivated work ethic.
  • Co-ordination and time management skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a small team and with diverse groups of people.
  • Competency with common computer programs (Word, Excel etc)
  • A high level of competency with technical operations software and hardware
  • Ability to lift, push or pull objects up to 45kg using appropriate tools.
  • An ability to make recommendations on the need for technical support for various events and performances;
  • Advise on the design and construction of sets, lighting and sound designs appropriate to the venue;
  • Perform minor repairs and preventative maintenance on equipment;
  • Maintain inventory of necessary supplies;
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with representatives of various groups, suppliers, co-workers, and others;
  • Maintain irregular and extended working hours;
  • An interest in Theatre and the Performing Arts.
  • Fluent English speaker
